Behind the Lens: A Day in the Life of a Boudoir Photographer

Ever wondered what a day in the life of a boudoir photographer looks like? Spoiler alert: It’s a blend of chaos, glamour, and a surprising amount of Pilates. Grab a coffee (or something stronger if you’ve had a day like mine), and let’s dive into a typical day behind the lens!

My mornings kick off with the all-too-familiar battle of getting the kids out the door. It’s like trying to herd cats—if the cats were kids who needed breakfast, socks, and a last-minute scramble for homework. And because who has time for a leisurely breakfast or a well-planned morning routine, I stop by Dunkin’ Donuts. Nothing says “I’ve got this” quite like a coffee and a dozen donuts while racing through the day’s chaos.

After dropping the kiddos off at school (and managing not to lose my sanity in the process), it’s off to the studio. Here’s where the magic happens—or, more accurately, where the magic begins. I set up for the day’s shoot, making sure everything is perfect for the client’s arrival. A little office work sneaks in before the fun starts. Thankfully, automation is my best friend; it helps me keep everything running smoothly and ensures I don’t drown in paperwork. Although I must apologize, sometimes those sneaky double messages get sent out. Just know, little Miss Automation has a mind of her own sometimes…

When the client arrives, the real fun begins. We kick things off with a friendly chat and pour some champagne (because every photoshoot should start with a little sparkle). We go over outfits and looks, discussing what will make her feel like the absolute star she is. Meanwhile, I’m also working on editing images from previous sessions and designing albums—multitasking at its finest!

Then it’s showtime! The shoot typically lasts around 1.5 to 2 hours. During this time, clients often realize they might have just signed up for a surprise Pilates class. Just kidding! It’s all about using those muscles you didn’t know you had while striking poses and feeling fabulous. I promise, it’s worth it.

Once the shoot wraps up, we cull through the images together, picking out all the favorites. I’m usually so excited about the results that I dive into editing right away, even before I head out to pick up the kids from their taekwondo lessons.

And as if that wasn’t enough, my day ends in my favorite way: cooking up a storm in the kitchen with a glass of wine in hand. There’s something incredibly satisfying about whipping up a delicious meal after a day of celebrating amazing women and creating stunning images. It’s my slice of happiness amid the daily hustle.

So, that’s a wrap on a typical day in my life as a boudoir photographer! It’s a whirlwind; a splash of chaos, excitement, creativity, and a lot of love for what I do. And while every day is a little different, one thing remains constant: the joy of helping women see themselves as the beautiful, confident, and incredible beings they truly are.

Cheers to a day well spent and the next adventure awaiting behind the lens!
